Oak Flat, or Chi'chil Bildagoteel, is an Apache sacred site located in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona that is threatened by a proposed copper mine. This site was protected by President Eisenhower in 1955 until late 2014, when Senator John McCain (AZ) traded away this sacred land to a foreign mining company.
In June 2015, Congressman Raul Grijalva (AZ) introduced the Sacred Oak Flat Act (H.R. 2811), which would repeal the land exchange and return the land to public ownership.
Please take action by contacting your Senators or Representatives in Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the Save Oak Flat Act (H.R. 2811).
